Metal Injection Molding (MIM) is an advanced metal-forming technology that merges the versatility of plastic injection molding with the strength and performance of metal, enabling production of small, intricate, high-strength metal parts in large quantities with consistent quality.
Specification (Core Advantages)
- Complex internal and external geometries
- High-volume production with tight tolerances (+/-0.01 to 0.05 mm)
- Excellent surface finish (Ra under 1.2 micrometers)
- Supports stainless steel, titanium, tungsten, copper alloys and more
- Ideal for parts weighing between 0.1g to 100g
- Cost-effective for mass production, fewer machining steps required
Product Content
The process involves mixing fine metal powders with a polymer binder to form a feedstock, injection molding the feedstock into complex part shapes, debinding to remove binder material, and sintering at high temperatures to densify the metal into a near full-density functional component. Applications include AI hardware and robotics (heat-dissipating enclosures, EMI-shielded casings, micro gear housings, sensor mounts), consumer electronics (SIM trays, hinges, connector housings), automotive (turbocharger vanes, transmission parts), medical and dental devices (surgical instruments, orthodontic brackets, implants), and firearms, defense and wearables.
